Trump Offers RFK Jr. Spot in Second-Term Transition Team

Democratic commentators have advised the Harris campaign to turn Trump’s alliance with Robert F. Kennedy into a weapon. Advisers suggest that Mr. Trump’s apparent pledge to place Kennedy in a significant post is further evidence of his unfitness to govern, and the Vice President’s campaign team should seize on it.

Mr. Kennedy reports that Trump has promised him a place on his transition team, which is responsible for selecting thousands of staff for the new administration and making the transfer from one to another as smooth as possible. Critics say it is feasible, therefore, that Kennedy will help to staff government departments responsible for health, even though he holds views dramatically at odds with most mainstream scientists.

The black sheep of the Kennedy political dynasty, the former Democrat has a long history of opposition to vaccination and claims it is at least partly responsible for the increase in autism cases over recent years. Kennedy has sensationally alleged that the US government has allowed a generation of Americans to be poisoned. Mainstream experts strongly dispute Mr. Kennedy’s claims.

When the COVID-19 pandemic arrived, Kennedy, a former environmental lawyer, argued that the extent of the virus and its danger was exaggerated so that Big Pharma could profit from vaccination programs. He has also accused his former political party of accepting cash from the pharmaceutical industry in exchange for policy favors, adding that the Democrats profit far more from drug lobbying than the GOP.

Since Mr. Kennedy entered the Presidential race and abandoned the Democrats, the media has uncovered several stories that paint him as an unusual character. For instance, he admitted on Twitter that he once found a dead bear cub and took it into his car. He took photos with the corpse before going falconing and having a meal. He later returned to place the bear by the side of the road. He has also faced previous sexual harassment allegations from a former nanny, and in 2012, told divorce attorneys that a worm had eaten part of his brain.

Images of the Trump ally appeared in the media in 2023, apparently showing him barbequing a dog on a spit. He later said the animal was a goat.
