Abbott Launches Multi-Agency Investigation
Texas Governor Greg Abbott has initiated an investigation into plans for an Islamic settlement called “EPIC City” in the Lone Star State. The project, spearheaded by the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC), has triggered serious concerns about potential implementation of Sharia law within Texas borders.
The investigation involves multiple state agencies working simultaneously to address what Abbott described as “serious legal issues” with the proposed development. The Governor mobilized significant resources to examine the project’s compliance with Texas law and constitutional principles.
No Sharia Law Permitted in Texas
Governor Abbott made his position unequivocal. “To be clear, Sharia law is not allowed in Texas. Nor are Sharia cities. Nor are ‘no go zones’ which this project seems to imply,” he stated.
“A dozen state agencies are investigating it, the Attorney General will look into it, and legislators are considering laws to restrict it, as well as laws to prevent foreign adversaries from buying land in Texas,” the Governor continued.
The contentious project was first announced in February, with organizers describing it as an integrated Muslim settlement. Critics say it could lead to cultural segregation and the establishment of parallel legal systems outside American jurisprudence.
The “EPIC City” project is part of a broader pattern emerging across the United States. Hamtramck, Michigan already stands as America’s first city with an entirely Muslim government, setting a precedent that has raised concerns among constitutional experts.
