After her son, Todd Allen Arnold, was brutally murdered, Sharon Turcot is trying to cope with the anguish. According to the 83-year-old, who is also fighting cancer, she is seeking solace from a counselor, friends, and her church in an effort to overcome her grief.
An autopsy revealed that 59-year-old Arnold, a former manager of a golf club, was brutally attacked in late May, suffering from eleven knife wounds, twenty-nine cuts, and a beating with a cast-iron skillet. Lauren Ashley Fullerton, 38, was indicted for first-degree murder and animal cruelty. She killed Todd’s cat.
At about 9:21 p.m., police arrived. Fullerton was seen standing in the front yard. A knife, the cat, and a shattered iron pan were discovered beside Arnold’s corpse when she guided the police officers into the residence, as reported by the district attorney’s office.
Arnold reportedly tried to force Fullerton to “perform a lewd act,” as she informed police, according to the DA’s office. Fullerton is currently being detained without bond in the Guilford County Detention Center in Greensboro. Arnold could have passed away as early as three days before May 28, according to the autopsy findings.
In addition to the stab wounds and lacerations, Arnold also suffered “blunt impact” injuries to the head in at least five other locations, according to the medical examiner’s findings.
Based on the injuries Arnold sustained, the medical examiner concluded that his assailant had not one but two knives, one of which had a serrated edge. The autopsy report indicated that Arnold’s spine had a shattered knife blade embedded.
Court evidence and the postmortem report indicated that Arnold’s body bore defensive wounds and that Fullerton sustained cuts on her hand.
In an interview with detectives, Fullerton admitted to stabbing Arnold and murdering his cat in the residence. According to the source,
Detectives think Fullerton allegedly murdered him and then stayed at the house for days after that, leaving his corpse lying about.
Fullerton had a prior conviction for five counts of driving under the influence and a 2008 felony cocaine usage conviction.
Turcot cherishes her son’s memories, but Friday would have been his 60th birthday. She appreciates the thoughtfulness of her friends who have dropped by with food and flowers. She is trying to cope with her loss.
