At the Republican presidential debate held at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum in Simi Valley, California, last Wednesday night, Democrat governor Gavin Newsom gave interviews to three major networks.
He was there even after the Republican competitors had left, surrounded by reporters as he criticized the Republican candidates and praised President Biden, and he was there during the debate, moving like a bee from reporter to reporter.
According to Newsom, Joe Biden is the clear winner of this discussion. And maybe even Trump.
Newsom thought the potential candidates for President were just the reserve squad.
They are only there to be picked for Vice President.
Reports show that while campaigning in Michigan on Wednesday, Trump made it clear that none of the debate participants will be in the race to be his vice president in 2024. Steven Cheung, a spokesman for Trump, subsequently verified to media outlets that the candidates wouldn’t be considered.
The Biden team asked Newsom to visit Simi Valley as a high-profile surrogate to speak with journalists.
Reports show Newsom is considering a bid for president in 2028. If Biden decides not to run for president in 2024, he would be ready and waiting.
The November debate between Newsom and Florida Republican gubernatorial nominee Ron DeSantis has been scheduled. Newsom often says that he was the one who lured DeSantis into this unprecedented debate because the two of them were both governors and DeSantis was running for president.
Newsom thought DeSantis was unqualified to be the leader of the United States. What was he thinking by accepting a debate with someone who isn’t even in the race?
In their home state of Florida, ex-President Donald Trump has a significant advantage over Governor Ron DeSantis.
According to a recent poll conducted by Tony Fabrizio for a private customer, 57% of GOP voters in Florida favor Trump, while just 22% support the governor.
