On Independence Day, President Joe Biden seemed to be disoriented as he made his way off the platform at the White House.
According to reports, Biden gave a speech before a performance featuring hip-hop star Ne-Yo, and Biden tried to leave the stage just before Ne-Yo was announced. He made a U-turn and saw immediately that he had no way out to the left.
Standing with his back to the crowd, Biden pretended to be looking for Ne-Yo. The audience laughed when Biden said he wanted to say hi to him.
Biden then told the crowd that they were trying to get him off the stage as he headed back toward the opposite side of the stage as the laughter persisted. He joked that they thought he was going to attempt to sing.
Reports show the president’s stage fiasco occurred only days after he abruptly left the set of an interview with MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace while they were still on the air.
After Wallace thanked Biden for his time, President abruptly stood up, shook Wallace’s hand, and shuffled away.
Adding to Biden’s problems, The Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, and months of steadily increasing prices at the gas pump and the grocery store, have all dealt a heavy blow to Vice President Joe Biden.
Reports show it is frustrating Democrats and adding to the president’s political malaise. Biden’s options are limited in each scenario. He has taken steps on his own, including releasing oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, to bring down gas costs, and he has urged the Senate to change the filibuster rules if they are in the way of enshrining Roe v. Wade into law.
There was little hope that those measures would significantly reduce gas costs or the number of states restricting or banning abortion. That’s particularly galling to Democrats, who say they voted for Biden in part because they wanted him to bring about change and now feel cheated.
