GOP Rep. Slams Possibility Of Biden Escaping Charges

The Wall Street Journal reported in mid-November that special counsel Robert Hur, who has been leading the investigation into President Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified documents, is not expected to bring charges against anyone, prompting many Republican lawmakers to once again accuse the Justice Department of a 2-tiered system of justice.

The special counsel’s office is reportedly compiling its report on the year-long investigation that will likely be critical of President Biden and his staff for their mishandling of classified materials that were discovered in an office of the Penn Biden Center in Washington and at the president’s Delaware home. The report is expected to detail everything the special counsel probe uncovered.

According to Justice Department officials, the special counsel’s team said they hoped to complete the report before the end of the year.

However, the news that charges would not be brought against Biden prompted criticism from Republicans who have accused the Justice Department of a double standard between President Biden and former President Donald Trump who faces multiple federal charges for mishandling classified documents he took with him when he left office.

While appearing on CBS News’s “Face the Nation,” House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Turner said it would be “devastating” for US national security if Hur does not bring charges against Joe Biden.

Turner also blasted the Biden Department of Justice for its “two-tier system of Justice” and accused the president of being a “serial classified document hoarder.”

In addressing the White House’s claim that the situation with Biden is different since, unlike Trump, Biden’s attorneys notified the National Archives as soon as they discovered the classified materials, Turner said that Biden “can’t hoard documents” for more than a decade while a senator and vice president and then claim ten years later that, as president, he cooperated, therefore his decade as a “serial classified document hoarder” doesn’t count.
