Two days later, Laidley’s body was found by local search and rescue teams at Secret Bay Beach, about a kilometer from where he disappeared. His death has left his family, including his two sons, in shock and mourning. In a statement, the family said it was no surprise that Laidley risked his life to help someone in need, describing him as a man who brought “kindness, strength, light, and laughter” to those around him.

The beach where the tragedy occurred is known for its dangerous conditions, but there were reportedly no warning signs alerting tourists to the risks. According to witnesses, incidents like this are not uncommon in the area, with five similar cases in the last five years.

Laidley’s bravery and sacrifice have touched many, with his family hoping his heroic spirit will inspire others to act with courage and selflessness. “Bali was a place of celebration and healing for Craig. May he rest in peace,” they said.
