Arizona Woman Dies After Car Falls off Cliff, Was Driving Home After Birthday

Here’s a horrifying story out of Arizona. According to reports, a 39-year-old woman celebrating her birthday was thrown from her car after she careering down a hill and off a 1,000ft cliff. Kristin Little, who celebrated her birthday only days before, died on Friday, August 16th, when her vehicle was thrown into the air along Thumb Butte Road.

The fall was so dramatic that the woman was literally thrown from the vehicle as it rocketed down the mountainside.

The tragic news spread across the state quickly, with condolences pouring in from across Arizona. During an interview with AZ Family, the mother of the woman, Jinger Cutting, said that she can’t bear the thought of burying her own child.

“That should not be the case,” she said.

The woman described how earlier in August, she traveled with her daughter Kris and her other daughter Jessica to celebrate her birthday. Cutting said that she couldn’t believe that less than a month later, she’s now planning the funeral for her daughter.

“I wish God would have taken me first. God needed Krissy,” she said. “She is an absolute angel. She was an angel on this earth for 39 years and now she’ll be an angel in heaven.”

So, what happened here?

According to the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the Thumb Butte region of Prescott at around 5pm. Deputies were told that a vehicle had fallen off of a cliff – something officers were alerted to when they received a notification sent automatically by Kris’ Apple Watch. The watch automatically told authorities that the car had crashed and provided the necessary location. Later that day, Kris’ body was discovered some 1,000ft down the side of the mountain. Tragically, Kris’ dog was also in the vehicle at the time of the crash and was found alive next to Kris.

Reports suggest that Kris may have been thrown from the vehicle via an open window.

Officers were forced to wait until the next day to recover the body, but they never left her side through the night. Cutting told news outlet how rescue workers “stayed with [her] daughter all night long.”
